Mayor Jean-Pierre Richard Resigns from Office

(Champdoré, NB, April 17, 2025)– The municipality of Champdoré informs the public that Mr. Jean-Pierre Richard has officially resigned from his position as Mayor of the Town of Champdoré, effective immediately as of Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Elected as a municipal councillor in May 2016 and then as mayor of the Village of Saint-Antoine in May 2021, he was appointed in November 2022 as the very first mayor of the Town of Champdoré following the amalgamation. Mr. Richard carried out his duties with dedication, working in service of the citizens and the development of the community. He held the position of mayor during a transitional period marked by local governance reform.

“After careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to resign from my position as Mayor of the Town of Champdoré. This decision is necessary due to a difference of opinion between the municipal council and myself regarding the operation of the municipality. My leadership style did not align with the council’s expectations. I would like to sincerely thank the citizens, community organizations, and the municipal employees with whom I have had the privilege of working and who have supported me throughout my term. Their commitment and hard work have been essential to the development of our town.” stated Mr. Jean-Pierre Richard.

The Town of Champdoré extends its sincere thanks to Mr. Jean-Pierre Richard for his dedication and service throughout his terms in office.

A special meeting of the municipal council is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 6:30 pm.
